MultiPus (for “MULTIple species for the synthetic Production of Useful biochemical Substances”) proposes an initial model and a method that enable to synthetically engineer a consortium for the production of compounds that are either exogenous to it, or are endogenous but where the interaction could be beneficial.
The model and its associated algorithm have been published in Scientific Reports, the paper is available here.
