Bio

I received a double master’s degree (computer science engineering – research-oriented computer science) from the INSA Rennes engineering school in 2019. My last master’s year has been heavily focused on the areas of computer vision and machine learning. Beforehand, I studied at the IUT du Limousin and received a “DUT informatique”, a technical computer science degree.

I have completed two internships related to machine learning and vision problems.

  • The first one was done at Robovision in 2018 and aimed at improving the performance of a neural network trained to regress the orientation of tulip bulbs that were to be prepared for plantation by a robotic arm.  I worked with both point clouds and raw images of the bulbs to improve orientation regression.
  • The second one took place at Inria in 2019 and concluded my master’s degree.  The subject of this internship was to apply deep learning to the problem of Visual servoing. It is the foundation on which my PhD started.

The topic of my PhD is the following: “Deep learning for visual servoing” and is under the supervison of Elisa Fromont (LACODAM team) and Eric Marchand (Rainbow team). I will be exploring how to apply deep learning techniques to perform efficient visual servoing. As of now, I am focusing on performing visual servoing in an end-to-end fashion and regressing the camera velocity directly instead of estimating the camera poses (that can be used in Position-Based Visual Servoing).

Bio

I’m a postdoctoral researcher in the RAINBOW team of Inria Rennes. I conduct research on crowd simulation, supervised by Julien Pettré.

From 2012 to 2016, I was a PhD student at Utrecht University, The Netherlands (Department of Information and Computing Sciences). I defended my PhD thesis, titled “Navigation for Characters and Crowds in Complex Virtual Environments”, on 30 March 2017. My research focused on path planning and crowd simulation in 2D/3D geometry. I have published and presented my work at international conferences such as IROS and Motion in Games. Also, I was the main author of Utrecht University’s crowd-simulation software, which is now being used commercially.

After my PhD, I continued in Utrecht as a scientific programmer and a lecturer. I have taught BSc and MSc courses on game programming, geometric algorithms, and crowd simulation. Also, I am the main author of the second edition of the book “Learning C# by Programming Games”, released in 2019.

Phd Student, INSA

Short Bio

I’m an engineer in computer science graduated in 2018 by the engineering school INSA Rennes. Right after my graduation, I decided to continue my studies with a Phd.  My Phd title is “Power Wheelchair Assisted Navigation in outdoors environment : Reality versus Virtuality” and is part of  the European Intereg ADAPT project that aims to develop solutions to increase mobility of people with impairments.

My main goal is to secure and enhanced power wheelchair navigation in a populated environment with dynamic obstacles. To achieve that, I work on a virtual power wheelchair simulator to train patient and also on path planning algorithm to avoid collisions and difficult paths.
