Romain Noël

I am a research scientist at Université Gustave Eiffel (formerly Ifsttar) Nantes.

Research interests / field of activity

My research mainly focuses on energy efficiency assessment and structural health monitoring. My goal is to improve the understanding of the dynamic and thermal behaviour of nonlinear structures and their health. This incorporates experimental and numerical studies at different scales around

  • Coupling nonlinear multi-physics (thermal, fluids, solids …)
  • Statistical physics
  • Image and Signal Processing
  • Non-Destructive Testing of structures

Short bio

I completed, in 2013, both a Ms. Engineering and a Ms. Science in Lyon. Afterwards, I worked as a technical expert in civil engineering dynamics for the French state, for 3 years in Paris. In 2019, I finished a Ph.D. in mathematical physics applied to bioengineering in Saint-Etienne. Then, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the ETH Zürich in 2019 and 2020. Since 2021, I am a research scientist in the I4S team.
