Montgolgram is a research project led by the University of Lorraine and in particular the Loria Semagram team, under the responsibility of M. Amblard. The aim of the project is to collect conversations in French, English and Swedish for dialogue analysis by carrying out specific tasks. For more information, you can contact the people in charge of this study by e-mail: contact-experience-montgolgram@inria.fr.
Taking part in this experiment involves carrying out two simple tasks with a partner using an instant messaging system1. We estimate the time needed to complete each task at around 10 minutes. Your participation in this experiment would therefore require less than 30 minutes for the technical set-up and completion of the 2 tasks. You will be able to interact with your partner to decide on a time that suits you for carrying out the task.
By participating in this experiment, you consent to the messages you send on the platform being collected for linguistics and computer science research.
Do not share any personal or personally identifiable information.
Afterwards, we will run the dialogues through standard named entity identification algorithms2 to check for the absence of sensitive information in order to ensure the anonymity of the data. The conversations will then be made available to the scientific community for use in further scientific analysis.
Once you have taken part in the experiment, i.e. after completing the 2 tasks, you will receive further details on how the experiment works and how the data collected will be processed.
Only your age, declared gender and level of education will be kept in order to obtain a representative balance in the data collected. Your first and last names are collected for the purposes of this consent and exercising your right of withdrawal, but will not be kept beyond the collection phase, nor will they be shared. Your e-mail address is collected to enable us to send you information necessary for your participation but will not be kept beyond the collection phase or shared.
The original data will be kept for 6 years, while the anonymised data will be accessible to the scientific community over time. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. In the event of withdrawal from the study, we will check with you whether you agree to your data being kept for the study.
Your collaboration is invaluable to us in carrying out our research; we appreciate the time and attention you devote to participating, and we thank you sincerely.
There is no compensation for taking part in the study. We’ve tried to make the experiment as fun as possible, so we hope you enjoy the different stages.
If you agree to take part in the Montgolgram experiment on a voluntary basis and acknowledge that you have received a clear presentation of the experiment, please fill in the following form:
1. We use the Element communication platform, which is based on the Matrix protocol.
2. A named entity is an expression associated with something uniquely identifiable, such as a proper name, a date or a location. Identifying them will enable us to anonymise the dialogues as far as possible, and to remove them from the corpus if anonymisation proves impossible.
