Recent Advances in Human-centric Video Understanding, by Manuel-Jesus Marin-Jimenez

Thursday, March 20, 2014, 2:30 to 3:30 pm, room F107, INRIA Montbonnot

Seminar by Manuel-Jesus Marin-Jimenez, University of Cordoba, Spain

In this seminar I will present recent advances in the field of visual content analysis focused on people. In particular, we are interested in understanding videos containing people-to-people interaction. Firstly, we will approach a video retrieval task by detecting people looking  at each other. Then, we will focus on human interaction categorization by using audio-visual features. The presented work has been developed in collaboration with (alphabetically) M. Eichner, V. Ferrari, R. MuÒoz, N. PÈrez de la Blanca, E. Yeguas and A. Zisserman.

Short bio: M.J. MarÌn-JimÈnez received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the University of Granada (Spain) in 2003, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Granada (Spain) in 2010. He has worked, as a visiting student, at the Computer Vision Center of Barcelona (Spain), Vislab-ISR/IST of Lisboa (Portugal) and the Visual Geometry Group of Oxford (UK). Currently, he works as an assistant professor at the University of Cordoba (Spain), carrying out his research within the Artificial Vision Applications (AVA) group. His research interests include object detection, human-centric video understanding and machine learning.
