Abstract:
Some language and communication difficulties such as dyslexia, developmental language disorder (DLD), deafness, can be encountered by children. Those multifaceted difficulties entail severe consequences, mostly in the school system. Because a lot of children cannot overcome their reading difficulties, their opportunities to pursue education beyond the primary school are reduced. We will present a few studies in the field of screening, diagnosing speech and learning difficulties. Finally, we will discuss issues and challenges for building educational and therapeutic programmes of children, and how innovative digital tools could improve special needs of children in which communication and language are central.
