ISI4NAVE is an Associate Team between INRIA project-team Rainbow (Rennes), Aspire CREATe (UCL – London), Rehabilitation Center of Pôle Saint Hélier (Rennes) and LGCGM lab, funded from 2016 to 2021.

8th July-24th August 2019
Morgane Bivaud and Nathan Balix (BSc students, Rennes) spend 6 weeks in ULC linking up tow haptics bracelets to control UCL’s smart wheelchair. They trained up users and performed a proof-of-concept evaluation.

5th-7h December 2018
Tom Carlson will be a member of the PhD defense jury of Louise Devigne (Rainbow) scheduled on December 6th, and will participate to the 3rd edition of “Journée Robotique et Santé” organized at Inria on December 7th.

12th November – 7th December 2018
Stefan Teodorescu, research associate in UCL, will come during 1 month to work on shared control. He will also participate to the 3rd edition of “Journée Robotique et Santé” organized at Inria on December 7th.

4th-15th September 2017
Chi Ezeh (PhD student, UCL) spends 2 weeks visiting Rennes, verifies the interoperability of his probabilistic shared control system, by porting it to the Lagadic team’s wheelchair and running initial tests.

17th-20th July 2017
RehabWeek in London. Tom Carlson was involved with the organisation. Louise Devigne Chi Ezeh each had a paper accepted at ICORR and presented their work, which directly resulted from the ISI4NAVE collaboration. Louise presented her work on “Design of an immersive simulator for assisted power wheelchair driving”, whilst Chi presented his work on “Probabilistic vs Linear Blending Approaches to Shared Control for Wheelchair Driving”

3rd July-31st July 2017
Louise Devigne (PhD student, Rennes) spend 1 month visiting UCL, developing a kerb detection system and and performing initial tests in the PAMELA facility.

1st June-31st July 2017
Nicolas Le Borgne (Master student, Rennes) spends two months visiting UCL, investigating wheelchair motion through crowds, making use of the PAMELA facility.

22nd June-5th July 2017
Devash Hanoomanjee (MSc student, UCL) spends 2 weeks in Rennes linking up a Brain-Computer Interface to control Lagadic’s smart wheelchair. He trained up users and performed a proof-of-concept evaluation.

June-August 2016
Louise Devigne and Valentin Bureau visited UCL during 2 months (mid June – mid August) and worked in close collaboration with Tom Carlson and Chinemelu Ezeh. During their stay, tests were performed with able-bodied persons and regular wheelchair users.

April 18-20 2016
Catherine Holloway and Tom Carlson visited Inria Rennes. They also visited Pôle Saint Hélier rehabilitation center, Immersia Platform, INSA teaching departments (Computer Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering).

Internships

1st June -31st August 2019
Morgane Bivaud and Nathan Balix (Rennes) realized a bachelor internship within Rainbow team. They visited UCL during 6 and perform user tests within PAMELA facility.

30th July -15th August 2018
Xavier Salard (Rennes) realized a master internship within Rainbow team. He visited UCL during 2 weeks and proposed improvements regarding MoRe-T2 tracking system developed in UCL.

mid July – mid September 2018
Tom Spreters (Rennes) undertook a master internship within Rainbow team. He visited UCL during 2 months and worked in close collaboration with Stefan Teodorescu, research associate in UCL, on the design of an haptic bracelet for navigation assistance. Tests with able-bodied people were conducted within PAMELA facility.

June-August 2016
Valentin Bureau (Rennes) realized a master internship related to force feedback devices. He spent two months in UCL (June-July 2016).
