Siggraph 2024 papers teaser

In 2024 the ELAN team will present three papers at ACM Siggraph 2024 in Denver: Fibres (TOG paper): a new exact detection scheme between two smooth curves, which removes spurrious artifacts in contact forces with fibres assemblies. Our algorithm is particularly well-suited for the super-helix discretisation of Kirchhoff thin elastic…

Siggraph Asia 2023 Test of Time Award

Our 2011 paper entitled “A hybrid iterative solver for robustly capturing Coulomb friction in hair dynamics” has been awarded a Test of Time Award at Siggraph Asia 2023 in Sydney. This paper introduced the first nonsmooth algorithm able to capture dry friction in flexible fibre assemblies in a fast and…

Projective Friction Code is awarded the Graphics Replicability Stamp

2023/10/31 2025/02/11Scientific articles, Software
Simulated pieces of clothesOur code for including dry friction into the Projective Dynamics algorithm has just been awarded the Graphics Replicability Stamp! The corresponding Projective Friction code is freely available here, and the related paper, published at Siggraph 2020, can be found here.

Rigid and flexible granular media: two new papers in Physics at JFM and Nature Com. Mat. in 2023

In 2023 we have two papers on the physics of granular matter: Granular collapses: we publish at the Journal of Fluid Mechanics (together with former members of the team and H. Rousseau at Inrae/ETH) a validation study of the Sand6 code — relying on a nonsmooth discretisation of the Drucker-Prager…

Siggraph 2021 physical validation on fibers

We have a paper accepted at ACM Siggraph 2021 on the validation of physics-based simulators for rods, plates, and frictional contact. This work combines theoretical, numerical, and experimental contributions, performed in tight collaboration between computer scientists and physicists.

Cloth and ribbons: new papers at CMAME, CVPR and Siggraph in 2020

2020/05/18 2025/02/11Scientific articles

Simulated pieces of clothesIn 2020 we present new contributions on the modeling of elastic surfaces and friction, with a paper at CMAME on the numerical modeling of ribbons, a paper at CVPR on the video-based estimation of friction in cloth, and a paper at Siggraph on fast cloth simulation with dry friction.

Best paper award at AFIG-EGFR 2019

2020/01/30 2025/02/11Award, Scientific articles

Raphaël Charrondière has received the best paper award at AFIG-EGFR (journées françaises d’informatique graphique) in Marseille in November 2019. The paper, co-authored by Florence, Victor, and Sébastien Neukirch, deals with the numerical modeling of thin elastic ribbons. Congratulations Raphaël!

Argus code awarded the graphics replicability stamp

2019/06/12 2025/02/11Scientific articles, Software

Our source code argus, dedicated to the realistic simulation of frictional contact in cloth, has been labeled replicable by the graphics replicability stamped initiative.
