Service Transparency

Providing service transparency will have a huge impact on users privacy, which might significantly change the balance of power between Internet companies and end-users. In addition, transparency is also essential for regulation authorities, such as ARCEP (the French communication regulation authority),  to improve their view of network characteristics and ensure the respect of citizens rights. Currently, the CNIL (the French entity working on citizens privacy) is actively working on finding privacy leakages, but this is done using mostly ad hoc solutions (such as traffic inspection, or device instrumentation that requires to root the device).
