Luca Belli: “Challenges in Responsible RecSys in Practice: Lessons from the Field”

For an upcoming team seminar, we are excited to host Professor Luca Belli, a faculty member at the Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) Law School in Rio de Janeiro. His work lies at the intersection of law and technology, with a strong focus on advancing data protection and the regulation of digital platforms.

The seminar will be held on Thursday, April 10th at 10 A.M. in the Thomas Flowers meeting room (Alan Turing building, Palaiseau).

Bio:

Luca Belli is the founder of Sator Labs, working at the intersection of algorithmic auditing and AI Governance. He was a UC Berkeley Tech Policy Fellow and a Visiting AI Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He has also been selected as an expert by the European Commission to help with the delegated act of Article 40 of the Digital Services Act. Previously, Luca was co-founder and Research Lead for Twitter’s Machine Learning Ethics, Transparency and Accountability (META) team, creating industry-leading approaches for responsible ML practices—including conducting many audits. He holds a Ph.D. in Math from Tor Vergata University in Rome.
