Title: Concevoir pour les personnes déficientes visuelles

Summary: Le nombre de déficients visuels a grandement augmenté avec les années et cette augmentation ne va faire que s’accroître d’ici 2030 (Levesque, 2005). Les technologies de l’information et de la communication (TIC) sont alors une réponse aux conséquences socio-économiques et culturelles auxquelles font face les déficients visuels (Emiliani et al., 1991), que ce soit du point de vue de l’éducation ou de l’inclusion professionnelle et sociale. Cependant, bien que ces TIC permettent de réaliser des activités que les déficients visuels ne pouvaient pas réaliser auparavant, elles ne sont pas toujours accessibles et adaptées à leurs besoins. Ainsi, lors de deux différents projets que je présenterai dans cet exposé, mon objectif général était d’étudier l’interaction des déficients visuels avec l’interface afin d’améliorer cette interaction pour leur bien-être et la performance globale des systèmes. Le premier projet concernait l’étude du fonctionnement cognitif des utilisateurs déficients visuels ainsi que leurs comportements de navigation et d’interaction dans une situation de navigation web afin d’améliorer l’accessibilité des interfaces informatiques (Giraud, Thérouanne, & Steiner, 2017). Ce projet a permis de conceptualiser un outil de filtrage des informations des sites web répondant adéquatement aux besoins des déficients visuels (Giraud, Thérouanne, & Steiner, 2015). Le second projet concernait l’étude de l’interaction homme-machine dans une situation d’apprentissage avec les TIC pour l’éducation (prototypage rapide) avec des enfants déficients visuels. Ce projet a permis de concevoir un grand nombre de prototypes de matériels pédagogiques pour travailler en classe (Giraud & Jouffrais, 2016; Giraud, Truillet, Gaildrat, & Jouffrais, 2017) et montrer le bénéfice substantiel apporté par le prototypage rapide (impression 3D & interactivité) en termes de compréhension de textes et de représentation spatiale chez les élèves déficients visuels (Giraud, Brock, Macé, & Jouffrais, 2017). Ainsi, que ce soit dans le cas du Web ou de l’éducation, les résultats sont très prometteurs et ont permis d’obtenir des preuves empiriques en faveur de l’adaptation des interfaces pour les déficients visuels.
