A robust approach for performing weighted minimax polynomial approximation

Minimax polynomial approximation problems are well known to people implementing mathematical libraries, but also in Signal Processing, for digital filter design. In this talk, I will discuss the main issues that are attributed to such problems in practice. To solve them in a robust way, we will need the help of several branches of mathematics, from Approximation Theory and Numerical Analysis, to Potential Theory and Algorithmic Number Theory.
