The Social Robotics Workshop (SRW) is a joint initiative of the RobotLearn team, Inria, and UGA, and is physically located at Inria at Univ. Grenoble Alpes, and more precisely in the Montbonnot site.
Robotic Platforms
We develop algorithms for various robotic platforms always based on our recent publications. In the past, we have worked with the NAO robot (from Softbank Robotics) and with various industrial prototypes. Most of the work during the period (2020-2024) was carried out with the social robot ARI (from PAL Robotics, see the figure), and in the framework of the H2020 SPRING project, the ANR JCJC ML3RI, and the MIAI Chair on audio-visual machine perception for robots.
Computing Resources
Our robots are awesome, but we often ask them too much. This is why we provide them some help with all these tasks. They can connect to a workstation with enough computational resources to, for instance, conduct experiments with large language models and vision language models.
The Workshop Room
Our workshop is equipped with furniture emulating obstacles and typical objects from our everyday life. The room does not possess any particular acoustic or visual properties. Lights are office-like, in the ceiling, and the walls, doors and other items are made with regular materials. In a nutshell: it is like a regular office or living room (see pictures below). The workshop is equipped with cameras in the ceiling, in case we need to monitor/record the interaction.
