The ALF research group at Inria/Irisa Rennes is looking for a PhD candidate to work on “Hardware prefetches and related issues”.

The PhD candidate will be funded for 3 years and is available now.

**General PhD topic:**
Performance of many applications is highly impacted by the memory hierarchy behavior. The interactions between the different components in the memory hierarchy and the out-of-order execution engine have high impact on performance.
The general objective of the thesis is to understand these interactions and propose hardware prefetching techniques that leverage the interactions.
The PhD will be co-advised by Dr Andre Seznec and Dr Pierre Michaud.
