SER-OS

SER-OS (Scalable, Efficient, and Resilient Operating Systems) Associate Team

This is the website of the SER-OS associate team.

SRT from ORNL and MYRIADS from INRIA are involved in this association.

ORNL – SRT:

This team led by Dr. Stephen L. Scott, consists of ORNL computer scientists from the Computer Science Research Group. The SRT is formed to specifically focus on research and development of operating systems, system libraries, and tools for addressing new issues and challenges in large-scale High Performance Computing (HPC) environment.

INRIA – MYRIADS:

The MYRIADS research team has been created from the PARIS project team since january 2010. It has the objective to design and implement systems and environments for autonomous service and resource management in distributed virtualized infrastructures. The team tackles the challenges of dependable application execution and efficient resource management in the future Internet of Services.

The objectives of the MYRIADS research team fall into the following categories:

  • System services for autonomous resource management in dynamic distributed systems
  • Autonomous service execution in dynamic distributed systems

Main objectives

The main objectives of the collaboration in the area of operating systems and system tools for HPC are:

  • operating systems for HPC (focusing on system-level virtualization)
  • system management tools for HPC platforms
  • resilience for HPC systems

October 2009

January 2010

Jérôme Gallard’s internship at ORNL
November 2009 Meeting at SuperComputing 2009, Portland, USA
Presentation of the collaboration at the OSCAR BoF
at SuperComputing 2009
December 2009 Christine Morin and Stephen L. Scott participated to the
workshop organized by the INRIA NCSA joint laboratory
for Petascale Computing, that will be held at NCSA, Urbana
Champaign, in December 24, 2009. This workshop is of high interest
for the SEROS INRIA associatedteam, since one of the three
topics of the workshop (fault tolerance and resilience) is also
a research topic for the SEROS collaboration.
