Bio

Alexandre Oliveira Souza is a CIFRE PhD candidate jointly hosted by Safran Electronics & Defense and Inria Nancy (HUCEBOT Team), University of Lorraine (France), since 2022.

His research explores anticipatory and data-driven control of active upper-body exoskeletons for industrial load-carrying tasks, combining machine-learning techniques with human–robot interaction principles to improve assistance quality while preserving user comfort.

Before starting his doctorate, Alexandre worked as a Research Engineer at Inria Nancy on exoskeleton simulation and evaluation (Oct 2021 – May 2022) and has been an Intern at Safran Electronics & Defense (March 2021 – September 2021), where he worked on Human Action Recognition (HAR) for lower limb exoskeleton control. He got a Biomedical Engineering degree from Grenoble Institute of Technology (Phelma) in 2021.
