PRESENTATION

HUCEBOT (acronym for Human Centered Robotics) is an Inria research team in common with Loria (UMR 7503), located at the Inria Centre at the University of Lorraine in Nancy, France. HUCEBOT was officially created on August 1st, 2025, as an offspring of the LARSEN team.

The HUCEBOT research team is dedicated to advancing algorithms for human-centered robots: robots that are not working autonomously in isolation, but that react, interact, collaborate, and assist humans to the best of their capacity.

Our goal is to enhance workplace conditions for improved ergonomics and safety using human-centered robots: either by physically assisting the human, using cobotics solutions such as exoskeletons, or by locally replacing the human in dangerous and/or remote situations with teleoperated robotic avatars.

Our methods enable the physical simulation and control of both simulated humans and robots. We use machine learning techniques to push the boundaries of our platforms, in interaction with their environment and with humans. Our software is implemented into interconnected libraries and modules that are validated on real robots. Experimental campaigns with humans validating our robotics technologies are at the core of our approach.
