Systemic risks, trajectories and transdisciplinary levers for action
Scientific Conference – 20-23 June 2022, Grenoble
In the context of current global degradations, whether environmental, ecosystemic, climatic, social or political, our human societies are facing ever more pressing challenges, constituting what is now commonly referred to as the Anthropocene transition. These major changes, if they materialise in full, will push our societies towards trajectories of abrupt transitions and potential collapses on a variety of scales.
Systemic risks, their causes and consequences, are still poorly assessed, little understood and even less mastered. The current context in which research is organised is partly responsible for this, as it is not conducive to the emergence of systemic issues. We therefore propose to form an established scientific community focusing on these issues. Many of you have been calling for this for several years.
The Archipel 2022 conference ‘Systemic risks, trajectories and levers for action’ is a first step. Its aim is to set up a transdisciplinary scientific group to identify the issues, salient points, framework of thought, methods and tools for dealing with systemic risks and, more generally, the future of our societies. The aim of this conference is to initiate collaborative work aimed to :
- bring together a community of scientists from different backgrounds, working with shared systemic approaches to global issues;
- co-construct and consolidate frameworks of thought, knowledge and methodologies on global systemic risks, their assessment and mitigation;
- make concrete progress in the production and dissemination of knowledge.
Registration for the Archipel 2022 conference is open to everyone. It is compulsory for all participants with an accepted submission.
