Sara and Alexis are on the move !

Within the framework of the BOUM SMAI call for projects, Sara Mazzonetto, senior lecturer, and Alexis Anagnostakis, PhD student, both members of the PASTA team (Inria/IECL) and attached to the Probability and Statistics team of IECL, have received funding for their workshop project “Singular diffusions: theoretical and numerical aspects”.

Focus on the “BOUM SMAI” call for projects

The Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI) launched the BOUge tes Mathématiques (BOUM) call for projects at the end of 2021. Aimed at young scientists of the SMAI, this call aims to promote the integration into the community and the initiative of PhD students, post-doctoral fellows and young people recruited within the last two years (MCF and CR) in Applied Mathematics. These projects are partially subsidized by Inria.

In particular, the SMAI wishes to set up groups of young researchers and to finance projects and activities in Applied Mathematics “by young people for young people”. These activities can be seminars, scientific popularization events or any other project or action aiming to promote interaction and dynamism between colleagues in the field. The objective is also to allow the participants to share information and experiences, to develop their network and even to set up new collaborations.

Successful submission for Sara and Alexis!

Sara and Alexis’ research is oriented around a common problem: singular diffusion processes and their applications. Within the framework of this theme and their work, they identified students, PhD and post-doctoral students working on this subject in several French universities. They therefore decided to try to create a network between the people concerned. In this perspective, they proposed to organize a two-day meeting in order to gather these different actors and to program two days of scientific discussions on the subject. This project, submitted to the AAP BOUM, received a favorable response from the committee and will therefore be granted financial support.

The workshop “Singular Diffusions: Theoretical and Numerical Aspects” will be open to confirmed researchers, experts on the subject, present on site or visiting (Inria delegation). The discussions that will follow the workshop will be dedicated to young scientists and will be organized around working groups.

The workshop will be held on Mai 05 and 06, 2022 at Inria Nancy Grand Est. Details of the program will be communicated soon.
