Bian Xiong

I am a PhD student at Inria Rennes and UGE (ex-Ifsttar) Nantes under the supervision of Qinghua Zhang and Vincent Baltazart.

Research interests / field of activity

Video camera-based vibration analysis has recently emerged as a promising approach to Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), owing to its simple installation and low-cost aspects. Based on appropriate image processing techniques, video image pixels act as motion sensors, substituting conventional mechanical sensors embedded in the structure to monitor. The objective of my thesis is to extract motion signals from video images and to develop statistical methods for real time SHM based on the extracted motion signals.

Short bio

I received the bachelor degree in optoelectronics from Huazhong University of science in China and technology (HUST) in 2015 and the bachelor degree in EEA (electronics, energy and automatics) from Sorbonne University in France in 2016. After that, I continued to study in Sorbonne University and obtained my master degree in image processing (2017-2018).
