CURATIVE is an Inria associate team shared between Inria TANGRAM research team and the Harvard Biorobotics Lab.
It investigates solutions to develop a tool to produce patient-based simulation
of a closing mitral valve on pathological cases. This collaboration more generally aims at developing a technology for patient-specific heart valve model for surgical procedure planning and scientific understanding.
Current state of the art approaches [WS13, PHS09, L+13, TJE+15] only study the normal, healthy heart. That is because it is difficult to i) anatomically represent a pathological valve (how to acquire it?, how to have a high enough level of details?) and ii) to establish the biomechanical model (how to define the constitutive law? how to tune the mechanical parameters?).
