ERC Advanced Grant Positions for Post-Docs, PhD’s, Engineers and Internships :

Post-docs, PhD’s, Engineers and Internships positions are offered within the framework of the European Research Council ERC Advanced Grant  CoBCoM: Computational Brain Connectivity Mapping started on Sept. 1st, 2016 for a duration of 5 years.

CoBCoM has the overall goal to develop new generation of computational models and methods for identifying and characterizing the  structural and functional connectivities of the brain, while integrating complementary non invasive  brain imaging modalities as Diffusion MRI, EEG and MEG. Clinical applications to high-impact diseases are also considered. This article published in MedIA 33(1), Oct. 2016 summarizes some challenges and target areas for CoBCoM and the rationale behind them.

Applicants for a Post-doctoral or an Engineer position must have a Ph.D. in Neuroimaging, Applied Mathematics/Stat,  Biomedical Engineering, or related fields or be expected to get one before starting the job, with very good research  experience in Neuroimaging analysis (e.g., Diffusion MRI, EEG, MEG )  and academic excellence including publications  in top journals and international  conferences.

Applicants for a PhD position must have a MSc or be expected to get one before starting the PhD.
Applicants for Internships position must be pursuing a MSc.

All the applicants are required to have very good programming experience in C/C++/PYTHON…

The successful candidates will work within the ATHENA lab. at Inria Sophia Antipolis-Méditerranée,
ideally located at the heart of the French Riviera, close to Nice, Cannes and Antibes.

Starting date: Open from January 2017
Duration: 2 years for Post-docs and Engineers with possibie extension, 3 years for PhD’s and 6 months for Internships.
Salary: to be negotiated depending on experience

Post-doctoral position: Computational Diffusion MRI

A post-doctoral research position is available to work on diffusion MRI 
Signal Modeling, Microstructure & Polarized Light Imaging. 
This position is available immediately for a duration up to 2 years
[ANR project MOSIFAH]

Required skills:

      • A strong background in computational diffusion MRI and image  processing is required.
        Fluency in English, and excellent programming skills (C++ and Python ) are necessary.

A 3 month internship position is available to work on a (GPU) parallel implementation of an inverse problem solver for electroencephalography or magnetoencephalography (MEEG).

We have developed an algorithm that makes use of diffusion weighted magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) and MEEG to estimate cortical activation and information flow in the white matter of the brain. The current C and Python implementation does not make use of parallelism and can only handle simplified models. The objective of the internship is to implement a parallel and optimized version of the algorithm that will run on GPUs.

During his/her stay, the inter will have the opportunity to learn about state of the art methods in dMRI, MEEG, and parallel programming in addition to working in a stimulating research environment (Inria & Athena Project Lab.) and experiencing life in the beautiful region of the French Riviera -Côte d’Azur- in France.

Required skills:

A background in parallel programming (CUDA/OpenCL) is required.

Familiarity with git, C, and Python are necessary.
