Master Student

Short bio

Souhail Benomaris currently completing a double-degree program in Applied Artificial Intelligence at Université Côte d’Azur, combined with a Master in MIAGE – Computer Science and Networks at EMSI Rabat. He joined the ACENTAURI team at Inria for a six-month Master Thesis internship as part of his final-year engineering studies.

His research focuses on precise 3D semantic segmentation for autonomous navigation, leveraging the fusion of stereo images and LiDAR point clouds. The aim is to generate high-resolution, semantically annotated 3D maps to improve the perception and long-term localization of autonomous mobile robots in urban environments. The internship is carried out under the supervision of Stefan Larsen and Prof. Ezio Malis.

Research Interests

His research interests include semantic 3D mapping, multimodal data fusion (stereo + LiDAR), and deep learning for perception in autonomous systems, with a specific focus on semantic understanding and localization in complex and dynamic urban scenes.
