Andrés E. Gómez H.EngineerShort bioMy main challenge in life is to apply knowledge to create new systems that promote well-being in our society. That’s why I always want to create a career in the STEM world. I started my journey in Colombia(my country) when I got my bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Pamplona in 2003. After that, I had the opportunity to apply my engineering skills in some big industries. However, I understood during that period that some problems need innovative solutions. So, to achieve this, you must improve and learn new skills. With that idea in mind, I returned to the University and started a master’s degree in computer science at the Industrial University of Santander(Colombia) in 2010. My research aimed to support the recuperations of persons with low-limb movement problems by applying robotics models. The development of my master’s research led me to discover that traffic accidents are one of the principal causes of leg movement alterations. Considering this context, I took the challenge of conducting a doctorate at the University of São Paulo(Sao Paulo, Brazil) in 2013, where I had the opportunity to contribute to developing a cooperative driver assistance system for lane change. After that, I worked on a Post-doc research at the National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology (Inria – Grenoble Rhône-Alpes) in 2018. My contribution was to propose a perception system for a new autonomous bus for public transportation in France. Furthermore, thanks to my academic record, I worked at the Aptiv-Poland company in 2021. This company let me learn how to apply my knowledge to real problems in the automotive industry. Finally, I am working on a new challenge with the Acentauri group at Inria Sophia Antipolis. My main objective as a development engineer for robotics applications is to contribute to creating a new level of world food production. Research Interests |
